Christmas Get-together 2016
Thanks to those who came along to the Christmas Get-together on 17th December. We still can’t believe it didn’t rain… There was a very big turn-out, with residents of all ages sampling the mulled wine and sitting on Santa’s knee! The turning on of the Christmas lights was suspense itself. We’ll overlook the fact that the kids turned them on about 10 minutes before the countdown started!
Many thanks to all who contributed to this great event – Helen and Tony Maher in particular. It couldn’t have happened without you Helen! Also, we’d like to thank Joe Fahy for writing the great memoir (click here to read), and Tom and Helen O’Connor for loaning us their gazebo yet again. Lynam’s and Farmhill Restaurant were our key “partners” in organising and providing the food, drink and selection boxes, and many thanks to them for being so accommodating. Thanks to Pat for helping to put up the Christmas lights, and to Máire and Teresa for serving the mulled wine. Also a big thanks to the Tidy Districts’ Team who did a great job in turning the green into a Christmas wonderland! The wreaths and decorations are amazing. Last but not least, a special thanks has to go to Tommy Hannifin for donning the red costume and beard – you did a fantastic job!
We collected €265 for the Peter McVerry Trust, thanks to all who donated.
