New Gaelscoil in the Area – Gaelscoil na Fuinseoige

An Foras Pátrúnachta have announced that Aisling Uí Fhéich has been appointed principal of the new Gaelscoil in our area. Aisling has over 20 years experience as a primary school teacher, 7 years of which were in Scoil Lorcáin. She has taught all primary school classes. She has spent the majority of her career working in Gaelscoileanna and attended a Gaelscoil herself.

Aisling worked as Deputy Principal in a developing Gaelscoil in Maynooth from it’s opening. During her time at the school it developed from a two-teacher school in temporary accommodation to a thriving 24 teacher school on a green field site in a permanent building. She has been involved in Initial Teacher Education in Primary Education for a year also.

Speaking on the announcement, General Secretary of An Foras Pátrúnachta Caoimhín Ó hEaghra said “The calibre of the individuals who applied for this position was second to none. We are absolutely delighted to appoint Aisling whose expertise and experience are formidable. There is no doubt but that this school will thrive under Aisling’s leadership.”

Suíomh / Location:
Gaelscoil na Fuinseoige will open for the start of the coming school year in start-up accommodation in a state owned property off the Clonskeagh Road (adjacent to Clonskeagh hospital) and the school will operate from here on a temporary basis.  When the building is transferred to the Gaelscoil there will be an opportunity for parents to come and visit prior to the school opening.

Permanent Site:
The Department are working towards acquiring a permanent site for the school. The permanent building is on the Departments build list for 2018.

Ainm / Name:
The name parents chose for the school was Gaelscoil na Fuinseoige. The thinking behind this is that many of the roads in Clonskeagh are named after trees. An Fhuinseog (ash tree) is a native Irish tree from which hurleys are made!

Éide Scoile / Uniform:
The uniform in navy. In Infants children may wear the tracksuit every day. The tracksuit is a navy half-zipped top and navy bottoms with royal blue piping. The uniform is available from O’Farrells Uniforms in Stillorgan Shopping Centre.

Amanta Oscailte / Opening times:
The school day will commence at 8.30am and Infants will finish at 1.10, Rang 1-6 at 2.10.
