An Foras Pátrúnachta has been successful in winning the patronage of the new primary school to open in our area this September. Location is yet to be announced. See text below from Cormac Mc Cashin of An Foras Pátrúnachta.
Is cúis áthais dom a fhógairt go raibh toradh dearfach ar ár n-iarratas Gaelscoil ilchreidmheach nua a oscailt i Stigh Lorgan / Baile na nGabhar. Buíochas agus Comhghairdeas libh uilig.
I am delighted to let you know that we succeeded in our application to open a new multi-denominational Gaelscoil in Stillorgan / Goatstown. Thank you and Congratulations to you all.
I appreciate that at this point you will have many questions. I would like to highlight the following points to you all:
- The school will be opening this September as planned.
- It will be a two-stream school.
- The job for school principal has been advertised.
- We are meeting with the Department next week to discuss the location and school accommodation as they have not yet completed the process.
- You cannot register until the enrolment policy has been written
We will have a public meeting in the Talbot Hotel Stillorgan on June 1st at 8pm to discuss everything from how to register for the school to the name of the school (if you have any suggestions please email me!) and answering all of your questions.
Of the 571 names recieved, 335 were outside of the catchment area. We are applying for patronage of a new school in Dún Laoghaire to open in 2017. We will need your support in spreading the word about Dún Laoghaire. We are confident we can avoid this school becoming over-subscribed if we succeed in Dún Laoghaire. Please let parents in that area know about the campaign and send them this link – http://www.foras.ie/en/our-schools/new-schools/
If you would like to read the report involving all 5 applications for this school, you can find it here – http://www.education.ie/en/Schools-Colleges/Information/Establishing-a-New-School/New-Primary-Schools/Patronage-assessment-report-to-NSEG-Goatstown-Stillorgan-2016.pdf
Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
