Our Lady’s Grove Site – Phase 1 – Planning Observation
The Residents’ Association lodged a letter of observation recently regarding an active planning application for The Grove development beside Our Lady’s Grove School. We wished to point out the importance of the shortcut from Friarsland Avenue to the schools for the school children in our area, and we also wished to highlight a possible safety issue for the kids traveling through the new development, once building work is completed.

The planners came back to Durkan’s with a request for more information. You can read the planners’ decision letter here: Decision-Letter-Further-InfoPL200XW5

They raise various interesting points. However from the point of view of the shortcut, the planners say the pedestrian access to Friarsland Avenue is not acceptable (on the current plans) and revised drawings and details are required indicating access from Friarsland Avenue to be free of gates in order to provide unrestricted permeability for pedestrians/cyclists.
